What does "tabata" mean?
Tabata is name of a fella in Japan. Seriously.
Tabata training came from the work of Dr. Izumi Tabata who found a way to improve both aerobic and anaerobic pathways by excercising for sets consisting of 20 seconds of as many reps as you can and rest for 10 seconds. Repeat 7 times.
Asim, you're exactly correct... just to be clear - you do 20 seconds of FULL OUT 100% intensity work, followed by 10 seconds of rest a TOTAL of 8 times. Your score is the one in which you do the least number of reps.
Tabata is a sadist and a genius. I love him and I also want him whacked.
