I had a great time on Saturday. I really enjoy the camaraderie at Petranek Fitness, you won't find it anywhere else. BTW, my calves are sore, it hurts to cough, it really hurts to sneeze and my left bicep is broken, at least it feels that way. I love it! ![]()
I was fine on Saturday.
Yesterday I was a little tight.
Today, I CAN'T MOVE.
When I tried to brush my teeth this morning, I thought, be a man, tough it out. When I lifted my arm a pain shot through my upper body. I rested on the sink. Tooth paste oozed out of my open maw. Eventually it hardened and glued my face to the vanity. Luckily my laptop by nearby. I'm writing this with one hand while i try to dislodge my face from the bathroom sink. If I don't show up on Wednesday, call the fire department...
But seriously, what do I do about the fact that I can't straighten my arms more than 90 degrees?
Yesterday I was a little stiff. Today I couldn't get my sweater on over my head to go to work. I let out a huge scream and then put it on as quickly as possible, realizing that it may be what I wear for the next 3 days. I spent half the day trying to find a comfortable position that didn't involve my arms going numb because I can't straighten my elbows. Then, evil of all evils, I got an itch on my head. Not thinking, I went to scratch it, and realized that my lats are so unbelievably sore that the pain of lifting up my arms to relieve the itch simply wasn't worth it and I went and rubbed my head against a nearby tree. I am also unable to use the phone, because my arms are stuck in the range of 80-120 degree flexion and trying to bring a phone to my ear makes my hands numb. This is unreal.
I'm slightly sore in my lats, but not as much as I have been in the past since starting here. I did some things differently:
+ post-workout vitamin/mineral drink and at least 1 gallon of water throughout the day
+ post-workout hot shower with stretching, then five hot / cold 1 minute cycles in the shower (not nearly as bad as I thought it would be)
(Ideally, I would have done some foam rolling later in the day, but I had to travel.) Try the shower next time. I'm going to continue trying it after every workout when I can remember.
My hands are all chewed up. The pullups scraped the skin off of them. I took pictures. They are ugly.
And of course I had a BALL! Thanks to everyone for the encouragement and the camaraderie; it means so much!!
Today is the first day I have been able to walk without pointing my right foot out like a duck, which I finally realized is because of those stupid jumping pullups. Also the first day I've been able to straighten my left arm. I always hated that b**** Angie. I tried to get Amanda to do 20 squats with me so that we could loosen things up. She would simply pike at the waist and lean forward and scream "Ow!" I'm gonna spit on Angie the next time I see her.
