Keron out on a morning run.
Today's Workout
Complete as many rounds as possible in 20 minutes of:
shoulder press
push press
split/push jerk
400m run
- once you pick the bar up for shoulder press, it must stay at shoulder height until after you have finished all jerks
- max out on each movement, with the last rep being the one you can do still with decent form
- choose a weight that you can shoulder press no more than 15 times on the first round
- score is the total number of reps you completed in 20 minutes
And I stand by my opinion firmly... Free your feet. Go barefoot!
I used to wear flip flops every day during the summer in NYC...it was my little way of saying that despite being at work, I'd rather be at the beach. Two summers ago I stopped because of ridiculous foot pain that was MOST DEFINITELY caused by les flip flops!! I've run 6 marathons and done at least 20 triathlons and have never experienced foot pain - my foot pain was so bad, I had to stop running all together.
Now I will say this - for me, wearing flip flops in NYC was a lot different then wearing them in L.A. - first, you don't really walk here...you just walk to your car for the most part. I walked at least a half hour to and from my commuter train everyday in NYC...and when it rains, the city streets and sidewalks get treacherous - your constantly gripping your toes so you don't slide out of them. And, I recall that my foot pain came after a particularly rainy couple of weeks.
It hurt my soul to have to give up my little silent flip flop rebellion...but not as bad as my feet hurt wearing them.
184 days until I never have to wear shoes again.
390 days until I never have to wear pants again.
What's a little ankle and leg soreness when compared to a lack of civil rights and economic development? I'm surprised that the article didn't address the more important insights gained from the correlation between the proportion of a state's population that wear "flip flops"
(for the lack of a better term) and the limited civil rights and econonomic development of that state.
Just take Vietnam as an example. A good proportion of the Vietnamese population wears "flip flops" and they do not have nearly the economic development or civil liberties, of say, England or Canda.
Ankle soreness? If we are truly concerned with pain and suffering around the world, we should pull out those wallets and start sending Nike, Wolverine, Hush Puppies, and even some Manolo Blahnik to these suffering people.
-journalism these days!
