Focused Effort
Most people don't come to us looking for a breakthrough in the way they think. However, one of the common side effects of CrossFit is a shift in your perception of what you thought was possible, and willingness to do things outside your comfort zone. Intensity doesn't just come from what you're able to do, but what you're willing to attempt and how hard you're willing to push. By practicing attempting things that are beyond what you think is possible, you get familiar with being unsure, uncomfortable, tentative, and even afraid, then doing it anyway. And don't think this doesn't translate to the rest of your life. As I saw written on the wall at CrossFit One World, "You are in CrossFit who you are in life."

Hey Andy,
Well written! I call it the 3 C's of CrossFit... Collectivity, Comaraderie and Competition.

http://www.lalannefitness.com/index.php/Main/comments/the_3_cs_of_crossfit/

Let's add a 4th on this account... Character. Here at LaLanne Fitness, this has been most apparent with our female students, including my wife Maribel. CrossFit forges 'Elite Character', self-esteem and confidence, as well as 'Elite Fitness'!!! Thanks for all your help.

Today's post raises some simple but important points. On the one hand, I'm relatively comfortable being uncomfortable. On the other hand, I can't say that I've pushed myself in any endeavor to the puking point.

I'm aware of this fact and it frustrates me in that I can never be sure of what my total ability is (as opposed to potential, which is not kinetic). The fundamental question, "I know I could, but what if I did?" never fully gets answered.

I have a limited ability to stay focus. I'm interested (perhaps superficially) in too many things and get bored after a certain point and fixate on something else. Is this a legitimate reason or is that just I lack the guts to stick with something? Am I lazy? Is it fear? Is it all of the above?

What does this have to do with CrossFit? I think that the wall at One World is right.

I need to meet Pukie and I might need some help.

Thoughts anyone?
