“Murph” receives the Congressional Medal of Honor
Friday, October 26, 2007
Some of you have had the pleasure of doing the CrossFit workout called the "Murph". It was named after Michael Murphy, a Navy SEAL who both created it and liked to do it regularly while wearing his body armor (15-20 lbs). Two years ago, Murph was killed in action while on a mission in Afghanistan, and earlier this week, he was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor, our nation's highest military honor, and the first awarded to a Navy SEAL since the Vietnam War. Today's Workout
"Murph"
For time:
1 mile run
100 pull ups
200 push ups
300 squats
1 mile run
A very special thank you to Murph, his family and all the men and women serving in the Armed Forces.
Today was the first time I did the Murph straight through -- last time I did it "Cindy" style with the middle being 20x 5 pullups, 10 pushups, 15 squats. This time I did it as written -- no help on pullups, pushups on knees. Finished in 54:00

The "murph" is an extremely apropos name considering that is the name of RoboCop. Thats pretty much what you have to be to get it done. My 1/2 murph destroyed me; not unlike what RoboCop does to badguys.
